چکیده

We simulate edge plasmas in NSTX double-null divertor configurations with the UEDGE two-dimensional fluid code. The carbon impurity density in the core plasma and total radiated power increase with the core heating power and the magnitude of the physical and chemical sputtering in the divertor. Up/down plasma asymmetries are generated by classical cross-field particle drifts. With the standard toroidal magnetic field direction (ion VB drift toward the lower x-point) the highest density occurs at the lower inboard divertor plate and the highest heat flux at the upper outboard divertor plate. Simulations of 3-d edge plasma turbulence with the BOUT code show that anomalous radial transport at the outboard midplane should be similar in magnitude for NSTX and DIII-D.

Numerical Studies and Simulation of the Lower Hybrid Waves Current Drive by using Fokker – Planck Equation in NSST and HT-7 Tokamaks

Recent experiments on the spherical tokamak have discovered the conditions to create a powerful plasma and ensure easy shaping and amplification of stability, high bootstrap current and confinement energy. The spherical tours (ST) fusion energy development path is complementary to the tokamak burning plasma experiment such as NSTX and higher toroidal beta regimes and improves the design of a po...

Overview of Direct Numerical Simulation of Particle Entrainment in Turbulent Flows

An overview of removal and re-entrainment of particles in turbulent flows is presented. The procedure for the direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the Navier-Stokes equation via a pseudospectral method for simulating the instantaneous fluid velocity field is described. Particle removal mechanisms in turbulent flows in a duct are examined and effects of the near-wall coherent eddies on the parti...

Modeling of plasma/lithium-surface interactions in NSTX: Status and key issues

We are studying lithium sputtering, evaporation, transport, material mixing, and surface evolution for the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) for various surfaces and plasma conditions. Lithium modeling is complex, particularly for NSTX short pulse, multiple material, variable plasma conditions. Cases examined include: (1) liquid lithium divertor (LLD) with planned high heating power/lo...
